ABOUT ME
I’m deeply passionate about teaching music to all ages. Empowering students to find their own voices and style. With a method that integrates theory, technique, and tools for expressive playing, I help my students gain confidence in playing their favourite songs right away, learn to jam, gain a foundation that will help them learn other instruments more easily later on, collaborate with other musicians and compose their own work.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
I’m a singer-songwriter, children’s playwrite and music teacher. I’ve taught 1:1, at Long and Mcquade and at private schools including the Booker School and the Waldorf school in Toronto. I’ve been writing and putting on children’s musical theatre for over a decade and have written over 10 children’s musicals. This journey began when I won the “best new playwright” competition at Centerstage theatre. Since having my musical put on at that theatre, I’ve been inspired to give back to my community offering musical theatre camps and writing plays that are curated to the children who apply, highlighting their unique voices, talents and interests.
I am deeply passionate about using music and the arts as a tool to help people find their voices and express themselves. I have my grade 9 piano, studied voice at Acadia University and primarily with teachers Robert Milne, Paula Rockwell and Tom Schilling. My theatre training has been with Jill Frappier and Cynthia Myers. I also studied songwriting with Cynthia Myers, Marya Stark and through various artist residencies with FECANE. Being able to play piano and understand music theory has given me such creative freedom and I'm excited to share those tools with my students in clear and straightforward ways!
Outside of teaching, I have a career in performing and have performed my original music at various festivals and events including Deep Roots, Fierte de Clare, Chocolate groove, Evolve, Future Forest, Praxis, opening for Lenny Gallant at Acadian Days festival and more. I’ve also released/produced/co-produced 1 full-length album, 1 full-length children’s album, 3 eps and 11 singles. My children’s album “Starseed Lullabies” recently got me nominated for Children’s artist of the year with Music Nova Scotia and the ECMAs.
I offer music lessons in English, French and Acadian French.

TESTIMONIALS
(Not many students call me by my artist name, so you will notice Micaela, Micci and Mic being used in the following testimonials)
